Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards in a shoe. Cards which are valued less than ten are give a value of face value meanwhile ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each equal to 1. Bets are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual players; they simply appear as the 2 hands to be given out).

Two hands of two cards will now be dealt to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The score for every hand is the sum total of the two cards, but the 1st digit is discarded. For example, a hand of 7 as well as 5 gives a total of two (7plus5=12; drop the ‘one’).

A third card may be given out depending on the following guidelines:

- If the bettor or banker has a tally of eight or nine, both gamblers stand.

- If the player has 5 or lower, he/she hits. Players stand otherwise.

- If player stands, the banker hits of five or lower. If the gambler hits, a chart shall be used in order to ascertain if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The bigger of the two scores will be the winner. Successful wagers on the banker pay 19 to 20 (even odds minus a 5% commission. Commission is monitored and cleared out when you leave the table so be sure to have $$$$$ still before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay one to 1. Winning bets for tie typically pay eight to one but sometimes nine to 1. (This is an awful bet as ties will happen less than one every 10 hands. Avoid betting on a tie. Even so odds are considerably better – nine to one vs. 8 to one)

Played properly, baccarat provides generally good odds, away from the tie bet of course.

Baccarat Strategy

As with just about all games, Baccarat has some common misconceptions. 1 of which is very similar to a roulette myth. The past is never actually an actual indicator of future happenings. Tracking of past conclusions on a chart is for sure a total waste of paper as well as a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most common and possibly most successful strategy is the 1-three-2-6 scheme. This method is used to accentuate payout and minimizing risk.

start by gambling 1 unit. If you win, add one more to the two on the table for a total of 3 on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have six on the table, subtract four so you have 2 on the third wager. If you win the 3rd wager, add two to the four on the table for a grand total of 6 on the 4th bet.

If you lose on the 1st wager, you suck up a loss of one. A win on the 1st bet followed by loss on the 2nd causes a loss of 2. Wins on the 1st 2 with a loss on the 3rd gives you a profit of 2. And wins on the first three with a loss on the 4th mean you come out even. Winning all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of ten. This means you can lose the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
