Baccarat Standards

Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards in a shoe. Cards below a value of 10 are valued at their printed number and on the other hand ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each applied a value of 1. Bets are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual contenders; they merely act as the two hands to be played).

Two hands of 2 cards will then be given to the ‘banker’ as well as ‘player’. The total for each hand will be the total of the 2 cards, but the 1st digit is discarded. For example, a hand of 7 and 5 produces a total score of 2 (sevenplus5=twelve; drop the ‘one’).

A third card might be given out depending on the foll. practices:

- If the bettor or banker has a value of 8 or 9, each bettors stand.

- If the gambler has 5 or less, he hits. gamblers stand otherwise.

- If player stands, the banker hits of five or lower. If the bettor hits, a chart is used to judge if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The higher of the 2 scores is the winner. Winning wagers on the banker pay out 19 to 20 (even odds less a 5 percent commission. Commission is followed closely and moved out when you leave the table so make sure to have $$$$$ left before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay one to one. Winning bets for tie customarily pay out eight to one but sometimes nine to one. (This is an awful bet as ties will happen lower than 1 every ten hands. Avoid betting on a tie. Still, odds are certainly better – nine to 1 versus eight to one)

When done accurately, baccarat provides pretty decent odds, aside from the tie bet obviously.

Baccarat Strategy

As with just about every games, Baccarat has some common misconceptions. 1 of which is quite similar to a misconception of roulette. The past is surely not a predictor of future happenings. Tracking of prior outcomes on a chart is a waste of paper and a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most common and probably most successful method is the 1-3-2-six technique. This process is employed to increase wins and minimizing risk.

Begin by gambling one unit. If you win, add 1 more to the two on the table for a total of three on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have six on the table, remove four so you have two on the 3rd gamble. If you win the 3rd bet, add two to the 4 on the table for a sum of 6 on the 4th bet.

If you don’t win on the 1st bet, you suck up a loss of 1. A win on the first bet quickly followed by loss on the 2nd causes a loss of 2. Wins on the first two with a loss on the 3rd gives you a profit of 2. And wins on the first three with a loss on the fourth mean you breakeven. Coming out on top on all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of ten. This means you can get beaten the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
