Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards in a shoe. Cards below a value of 10 are said to be worth their printed value and on the other hand ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Wagers are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual individuals; they only symbolize the two hands to be played).

2 hands of 2 cards will now be given out to the ‘banker’ as well as ‘player’. The value for any hand will be the sum total of the 2 cards, but the initial digit is dumped. For e.g., a hand of 7 and 5 results in a score of 2 (7plusfive=12; drop the ‘1′).

A 3rd card may be given depending on the following regulations:

- If the player or banker has a value of 8 or nine, each players stand.

- If the player has 5 or less, he/she hits. Players stand otherwise.

- If player stands, the banker hits of 5 or lesser. If the gambler hits, a chart is used to figure if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The bigger of the 2 scores wins. Successful bets on the banker pay 19 to 20 (even odds less a five percent commission. Commission is kept track of and cleared out when you leave the table so make sure you have funds left over before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay one to 1. Winner bets for tie commonly pays out at 8 to 1 but on occasion nine to one. (This is a bad bet as ties will occur less than 1 every ten hands. Avoid betting on a tie. Nonetheless odds are actually better – nine to 1 vs. 8 to one)

When done accurately, baccarat provides generally decent odds, away from the tie bet obviously.

Baccarat Strategy

As with most games, Baccarat has some well-known misconceptions. One of which is similar to a misconception of roulette. The past is never actually a predictor of future outcomes. Staying abreast of old conclusions on a chart is undoubtedly a waste of paper as well as an insult to the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most popular and almost certainly most successful strategy is the 1-3-two-six method. This method is employed to pump up wins and limiting risk.

start by wagering 1 unit. If you win, add one more to the 2 on the table for a total of 3 on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have six on the table, take away four so you have two on the third bet. If you win the 3rd bet, add 2 to the four on the table for a sum of 6 on the 4th bet.

If you don’t win on the 1st wager, you take a loss of 1. A win on the 1st bet quickly followed by loss on the second creates a loss of two. Wins on the first 2 with a loss on the third gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the fourth mean you come out even. Winning all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of ten. In other words that you can get beaten the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
